Course Reserves are course-related materials made available by Yale University Library at the request of the instructor of the course.

The required and suggested readings for Yale courses are typically placed on course reserve. These may take two forms.

eReserves: Available instantly through Canvas. If you have difficulty accessing an eReserve item, please email or call 2-3439.

Print reserves: These items will be listed as such in the Canvas course site and are available to checked out at the information desk at CSSSI.

Print materials that are placed on course reserves have shortened loan periods ranging from 2 hours to 3 days. This allows for greater access to these items for all students taking a course. Print reserve items cannot be renewed.

Significant fines will apply when print reserve materials are held past the time when they are due back:

$2.00 per day for 3-day reserves.
$3.00 per hour for reserve 2-hour and 24-hour reserve books.

Textbooks are only placed on course reserve at the request of the faculty member.
